Information for the local community about the Clare Classic.

About the Clare Classic

The 2020 Clare Classic has been cancelled due to COVID-19. Dates for the next Clare Classic event are yet to be announced.

The Clare Classic takes place in the beautiful Clare Valley wine region of South Australia  and incorporates two rides. The Dirty Clare gravel event is an 80km ride which takes riders off road through the beautiful Spring Gully National Park. This event will be held on the Saturday of the event weekend.

The main Clare Classic event incorporates three routes, extending from Clare to Stanley Flat, Brinkworth, Sevenhill, Leasingham, Mintaro, Manoora and Auburn. This event will be held on Sunday of the event weekend.

The Dirty Clare gravel course on Saturday of the event weekend will start at Clare Town Oval from 7am. The village will be open until 2pm to welcome riders back through the finish line and also for Sunday riders to collect their registration kits.

For the Sunday Clare Classic road cycling event, riders will start at the Main North Road in Clare (opposite the Town Hall) from 7.30am. Riders will then finish at the Event Village (Clare Town Oval).  Please come along and cheer the riders as they cross the finish line during the day.

10am-4pm
The Event Village will be a lively hub with live music, gourmet food and wine stalls, children’s activities, cycling exhibitors and more.

Riders from all over Australia have registered for the event. Many will be staying in the Clare Valley over the weekend boosting tourism and bringing considerable economic benefits to the local region.

Clare Classic Event Village

The Clare Classic Event Village is at Clare Town Oval. 

The event village will be a lively centre of activity and entertainment as riders cross the finish line during the day. All welcome!

Event Village Parking

Limited parking will be available within Clare Town OvalEnter via Young Pl off Main North Road, Clare.

Marshalls will direct motorists to parking spaces.

There is also plenty of street parking available in the area.

Start & Finish Line

80km Dirty Clare Gravel Event Start & Finish Line

Date: Saturday of the event weekend
Location: Clare Town Oval
Time: Riders will depart at 7.30am and arrive back between 10.00am to 12.00pm.

160km Maxi, 110km Challenge & 50km Social Rides Start and Finish Line

Date: Sunday of the event weekend
Start Location: Outside Clare Town Hall, 229 Main North Road
Finish Location: Clare Town Oval
Time: Riders will go off in waves, heading north towards Stanley Flat.
* 160km Maxi riders: From 7.30am to 7.45am
* 110km Challenge riders: From 7.50am to 8.05am
*50km Social riders: From 8.10am to 8.20am

Riders will arrive through the finish line between 10.00am to 4.00pm.
Cheer on the riders as they come through the finish line with your free Clare Classic bell! Available from the Bicycling Australia tent at the Event Village.

If you are driving on any of the roads which are being used for the event, please ensure that you take care and be watchful for cyclists.

Police will be patrolling the course throughout the day to ensure cyclists and motorists observe all road rules.

The Clare Classic passes through towns such as Clare, Stanley Flat, Brinkworth, Sevenhill, Leasingham, Mintaro, Manoora and Auburn.

Parking: Limited parking with Clare Town Oval, access via Young Pl. Plenty of street parking is also available.
