110KM CHALLENGE CLASSIC: COURSE OVERVIEW

Left or right? It’s your choice. Using most of the roads of the Maxi Classic, the difference is that you turn left near the Clare Valley Racing Club and refuel in Clare before continuing to share the wonderful rolling countryside of the Clare Valley. It’s a bit like a good glass of Clare wine, you will be left with a great sense of satisfaction but still wanting just a little more.

The 110km Challenge Classic will see riders start from the Main Street of Clare. The first few kilometres are flat, but as you exit Clare prepare yourself for some undulating terrain and typically some cross winds too.

As the Maxi riders continue onto Brinkworth, you will loop back through Clare and have the opportunity to refuel at the Pioneer Park Rest Stop. From here riders will continue with the undulating terrain, which eventually does flatten out as you head towards the Mintato Rest Stop. It is advised to stop and refuel as the half way mark has now passed and there is still some challenging terrain ahead.

From Mintaro you will head into the picturesque heart of the Clare Valley, take your time to absorb the surroundings you are in. From old barn yards vineyards to general stores that haven’t changed in over a 100yrs, at times it seems like you have ridden back in time.

After the 75km mark you will again hit the open countryside, heading towards the final Hydration Station at Manoora.

On the final stretch the roads are open and undulating until you again pass Mintaro and hit the final obstacle of the day- The Jolly Way KOM. This 3km climb starts off gradual until the last few hundred metres where it steepens, but keep in mind you are so close to finishing! Use that adrenalin as extra energy to make it to the finish line at Clare Oval where some ice-cold locally brewed beers and wines are waiting!
